Hull City are set to have their own ball for the new Championship season - just like the other 72 Football League participants this season. Behind the initiative is football's oldest brand - Mitre - who have been commissioned to design the ball for each club. City Independent have an image of the new ball and also some other balls that has been circulating the Tigers...
The new 2010-11 Championship season is all set to kick off at home to Swansea City a week on Saturday and when doing so, the Tigers will be using their own specially and individually designed Mitre football for the game, complete with the club's logo and colours as pictured above. The model is a Mitre Tensile and if you wish to buy one, it will cost around £75. Yes, that's not a mistake...
In other news that's not really news, Jimmy Bullard will be in contention for a place on the opening day, despite not featuring at all during pre-season as Adam Pearson reveals - 'I think if he is still here at the start of the season then he will come into Nigel Pearson's plans. Whether Nigel decides to pick him will be completely down to him. We have some good players in midfield and it will depend whether Nigel deems to play him there. From my point he will be available for the squad and it will be Nigel's decision whether to play him or not.'
Continuing - 'Jimmy is training well. He has accepted the situation and is getting on with it in a professional manner, which you would expect him to do. He understands the situation we are in and that we can't afford him to get injured playing in a friendly, which may prevent him getting a move to suit him and the club. We have been active and we have approached a number of clubs to see if they are interested in any kind of deal. They are Premier League clubs and I keep saying to Jimmy, he has to play games and prove his fitness.'
Concluding - 'He is fit, as fit as he has been for a long time, and we saw in November what a fit Jimmy can do to a team. He has prospered in the Premier League for a number of years so if he can prove his fitness I am sure there will be somebody out there willing to take a slight risk on it.'
Finally, back to some proper news, Hull City have had three of their players called up for the Republic of Ireland squad to face Argentina in Dublin. The match heralds the grand opening of the new Aviva Stadium that replaces the demolished Lansdowne Road stadium once stood in it's place. Paul McShane, Caleb Folan and Kevin Kilbane are all set to feature in the prestigious fixture on August 11th.
