New striker tops City wish list

July 2010 By CI Admin | 28/07/2010 at 08:30

After yesterday's report on City Independent, Head of Football Operations - Adam Pearson - appears to have cemented the club's position of one in and one out before any new players will arrive at the Tigers. However, should movement out of the club arise, then knowing who to bring in is something manager Nigel Pearson has already identified. Someone with pace and someone with goals...

Hull City may well be under tight financial strains at the present, but the club are already doing their level best to offload unwanted players, so new players - possibly up to three new faces - can arrive at the club before the current transfer window shuts. But as reported yesterday on City Independent, none of that can happen unless certain players that are already on the books are moved on from the club.

Speaking about the squad priorities Nigel Pearson has, Head of Football Operations Adam Pearson revealed - 'We know exactly who we would bring in if we had the resource to do so. There could be a new addition before the start of the season, but we would have to have generated some funds in the transfer market.'

And the City supremo continued that it's not just one new player currently on the Tigers' agenda to add - 'At most we could possibly stretch to three new faces, but at the minute we are a way off being able to bring in one player, let alone three. We need to lower the wage bill and freshen the squad up as well. It needs some pace and some more goals in it.'

Concluding - 'We are obviously looking at loans and free transfers on the whole, with maybe the odd cheap import from overseas. The squad is a bit short in certain areas. We are a bit short of goals from a consistent goal-scorer and we are a bit short of legs. Nigel has particularly good contacts in Portugal, but new arrivals will be few and far between, and very select.'
