Hull City winger Stephen Hunt appears set to play through the pain barrier for the remainder of the Premier League season in a brave effort to be available and help the Tigers fight stay in the top flight of English football. The noticeable absence of Stephen Hunt last weekend at Everton has been explained a little more by Hull City manager Phil Brown. City got clubbed at Goodison Park 5-1 and the Irish winger was missing from action as the Tigers listed badly on Merseyside for the second occasion running, after tumbling 6-1 at Liverpool earlier in the season.
The City boss was forced to make numerous changes for the televised clash with the blue half of Merseyside after regular first team stars Anthony Gardner, Andy Dawson and the aforementioned Stephen Hunt were all missing from duties. Gardner has ankle ligament damage, Dawson was suffering with asthma, while Hunt appears to have a foot injury needing surgery.
However, the Irish winger seems intent on helping the Tigers stave off relegation from the Premier League and instead will play on despite feeling pain in his foot. It appears the City no.11 will require surgery to remedy the problem, but manager Phil Brown has claimed the left sided star will carry on to help the club and postpone any pending operation.
When speaking on Stephen Hunt's absence from the team to face Everton last Sunday, the City boss claimed - 'Stephen Hunt's damage to his foot is one where it needs rest. It's an ongoing concern but we'll have to deal with it the best we can.' Brown remains confident that Hunt will be in contention to face Arsenal at home this weekend in another televised clash this Saturday tea time on ESPN.
